Who is e_Card for?
People in Africa who want to pay for online services billed in dollars. In Mobile Money countries, top-ups are made with Flooz, Mixx by Yas, MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Moov Money, Wave, Free Money, Celtiis Cash, Airtel Money or M-Pesa, depending on the country; elsewhere in Africa, in crypto.
Which countries is e_Card available in?
With Mobile Money in 10 countries: Togo (Flooz, Mixx by Yas), Benin (MTN MoMo, Moov Money, Celtiis Cash), Cote d'Ivoire (Orange Money, MTN MoMo, Moov Money, Wave), Senegal (Orange Money, Wave, Free Money), Burkina Faso (Orange Money, Moov Money), Mali (Orange Money, Moov Money), Niger (Airtel Money, Moov Money), Cameroon (MTN MoMo, Orange Money), Ghana (MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money) and Kenya (M-Pesa, Airtel Money). You pick your country when you sign up, the payment is debited in your currency and the exact amount is shown before you confirm on your phone.
Withdrawals to Mobile Money are open in the seven FCFA countries (Togo, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger). In Cameroon, Ghana and Kenya, the card is topped up with Mobile Money, but withdrawals are not offered yet.
Elsewhere in Africa: crypto deposits, in USDT or USDC only. Sign-up is open in every African country; outside the Mobile Money zone, card orders and top-ups are paid in crypto from the app, with the same cards.
In the app, you get your own crypto address: every USDT or USDC you send to it tops up your card automatically, within minutes, and first pays for a pending crypto order if there is one. The address is available once your identity is verified. 1 USDT or 1 USDC is worth 1 dollar, and the fee is 4% + 1.5 USDT per top-up, taken from what you send: any deposit is credited as long as at least 1 dollar is left for the card, which means from about 3 USDT. Only send USDT or USDC, on the network shown with the address: anything sent in another crypto, or on another network, would be lost. Crypto transfers are final: anything sent to an address other than yours cannot be cancelled or recovered.
Which documents do I need to verify my identity?
An ID card, a passport, a voter card, a driving licence or a residence permit, plus a selfie. Verification happens once, inside the app.
How much does a card cost?
Every card costs $2.30 (€2.02), paid with Mobile Money, up to 3 cards (5 with e_Card VIP). A card is ordered with a first top-up of at least $7.66 (€6.75), which goes onto the card: it is active as soon as it is created. Visa and Mastercard cost the same. After that, each Mobile Money top-up carries a 6% fee that gradually falls to 5% from $765.95 added to the card, never under $0.77, or €0.67 (half price with VIP; in crypto, 4% + 1.5 USDT per top-up, from 3 USDT), and each payment a fixed fee by purchase amount, from $0.35 (up to $10) to $2 (above $200), taken from your next top-up, with no monthly fee at all. Your Mobile Money operator's commission is included in that fee: the total shown is exactly what it asks you. A launch promo code can make the first card free.
Are there monthly or hidden fees?
No monthly fee at all, on either plan: holding a card costs nothing. A payment declined for insufficient funds costs $0.50. Nothing else: every fee shows in the card's history, and if the card cannot pay it, the amount owed is withheld from your next top-up, announced before you pay.
What is e_Card VIP?
A subscription at $5.20 per month (€4.58) or $51.94 per year (€45.74, 2 months free), paid with Mobile Money, in crypto or from one of your cards. It gives every card at $2.30 up to 5 cards, top-up fees halved, no fee at all on purchases under $10 and lower fees above, team cards for 5 members, doubled top-up limits and priority support. It renews automatically, with a reminder 3 days before, and can be cancelled any time from the app for the end of the paid period. You keep your cards if you go back to Standard.
Which exchange rate applies?
Our rate of the day: $1 ≈ 653 FCFA today, the interbank rate plus 13%. That is what a dollar really costs here: the interbank rate quoted by online converters is not available to anyone. You pay in FCFA with Mobile Money at that rate, and the app shows the exact amount your operator will ask before you confirm.
How much can I top up?
From $7.66 to $1,531 added to the card per top-up (€6.75 to €1,349). The fee is a percentage that goes down as the top-up grows: 6% up to $38.30, then gradually down to 5% from $765.95, never under $0.77, or €0.67 (half price with VIP). Your operator's commission is included: for $38.30 added to the card, it will ask you the equivalent of $40.60 (€35.75), fee of $2.30 included. Both the dollar amount added to the card and the total to pay are shown before you confirm. In crypto, a deposit is credited from about 3 USDT, fees taken.
Where can I pay with the card?
Netflix, Spotify (via Google Pay), Facebook and Instagram ads, Google, AWS, Canva, Shein, AliExpress, Google Play and the App Store, and more broadly websites that accept Visa or Mastercard online.
Is there an iPhone version?
e_Card is in private beta on Android: the Download button serves the APK directly. iOS is coming later.
How do I delete my account?
From the app (Profile, Delete account) or by following the steps on the Delete account page. Our privacy policy details which data is kept and for how long.
